Summary

On September 13, 1955, at 1:01 a.m. near Palmdale, California, a civilian witnessed an object with a flat top and bottom with rounded ends. The object had a diameter equal to a silver dollar and a height one-quarter that width. It produced a constant deep undertone sound similar to a diesel roar with an overtone like a loud road similar to an afterburner roar. The object moved very slowly in a southwest direction, made a left climbing turn, and was observed for 10 to 15 minutes. The witness reported one object sighted from the ground. The Air Force concluded the sighting was a possible test vehicle.
