Summary

On October 25, 1953, at approximately 8:50 p.m., two unidentified objects were sighted over Capitol Heights, Maryland, near Washington D.C. The objects were round in shape, about three times the size of an average star or small grapefruit, and star-like or white in color. They appeared side by side about 50 feet apart and drifted independently of each other. The objects made no sound and showed no exhaust or glow. They moved at a speed consistent with piston engine transport aircraft. The sighting lasted approximately 30 seconds. Observers faced in an easterly direction as the objects approached from the north, traveling southerly toward Bolling Air Force Base at 59 degrees elevation before disappearing behind trees at 45 degrees elevation. The flight path was straight and level. An Air Force employee and her husband, a University of Maryland student, witnessed the event. The Air Force evaluation was listed as unknown.
