Summary

On July 4, 1955, near 4:02 p.m. local time, witnesses in Orlando, Florida reported a single round, large, white object. The report came in under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. Both military and civilian people saw it.

The object had a long, brilliant trail. It traveled in a straight course from east to west. The sighting lasted about sixteen to seventeen seconds.

The object was also seen by observers in Miami and Palm Beach. The Air Force noted that the description fit a meteorite and that the short duration matched. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably astronomical, most likely a meteor.
