30 Miles East Of Pittsburg, PASeptember 1955

Insufficient Data

Summary

On September 25, 1955, at about 0020Z, a civilian saw three objects about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The sighting lasted about ten minutes.

The witness described three lights forming an equilateral triangle. A silver dollar held at arm's length would cover all three lights, which were estimated to be about 100 feet apart. The lights were bright red and flashing. The objects could hover, and their flight seemed controlled, as if it followed a set path. Their speed was about 20 to 30 miles per hour. They moved from north to east.

The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably caused by three dirigibles (airships) known to be in or near the area at the time.
