Summary

On August 15, 1955, at 5:34 p.m., a civilian in Hollywood, California reported seeing a round, white object with no trail or sound moving as fast as a jet. The object was observed for three seconds as it traveled north to south at 2,500 feet altitude, moving in an arc before disappearing. A small aircraft was spotted flying in the same general area at the same time. The witness, a 45-year-old house keeper, reported clear skies and ten-mile visibility. The Air Force noted the object was possibly a search light, such as those used in grand openings of stores, theaters, and similar establishments.
