Summary

On July 23, 1955, in Van Nuys, California, a civilian observer reported seeing one elliptical, silver object about the size of a nickel at arm's length. The object traveled southerly at a speed faster than a jet, moving from north to south at a forty-five-degree angle of elevation. The sighting lasted ten to fifteen seconds and occurred during daylight hours. The observer reported clear skies with ten-mile visibility and southeast to southwest winds of eight to twelve miles per hour. The Air Force determined there was insufficient information to determine the nature of the object.
