Summary

On August 27, 1953, near Falls Church, Virginia, a civilian witness reported an unidentified object. An observer noted a UFO shaped like a star with a white light about the size of a star moving over Falls Church. The object appeared to be the size of a star. No aerodynamic features were noted. No trail or exhaust was observed. The speed was estimated to be faster than a conventional aircraft and possibly faster than a jet. The altitude could not be estimated. The flight path was straight and parallel to the horizon. The object was last observed west of Arlington, Virginia, and passed into a distant location. The observation lasted for 15 seconds until the object disappeared behind cloud formation. The object was also discernible through the cloud. The Air Force conclusion was listed as Unknown.
