Summary

On November 15, 1954, at 3:51 p.m., a civilian in Augusta, Maine reported seeing ten bright objects in a V-formation flying in a strict pattern with no sound. The objects seemed to dissolve after three minutes. The Air Force received the report as ground-visual observation from a single witness. Weather conditions were clear. In its evaluation, the Air Force noted the light conditions and altitude were ambiguous enough that the objects could have been anything from high-altitude aircraft to low-altitude birds. The case was marked unidentified.
