CAMP CARSON, COLORADODecember 1952

Unidentified

Summary

On December 24, 1952, at 5:17 a.m., observers at Camp Carson, Colorado, sighted a silvery unidentified flying object. The object appeared circular, about the size of a baseball, and changed into a tear-shaped configuration as it hovered in the vicinity for approximately two to three minutes. It then disappeared at a high rate of speed. The object was estimated to be four miles distant at 2,000 feet altitude and emitted an intermittent white light. Three airmen assigned to the base reported the sighting. The Air Force evaluated the incident as possibly a balloon, noting the timing coincided with a scheduled piball balloon release at Pueblo, Colorado, two hours earlier.
