Summary

On March 21, 1958, around 8:20 a.m. in Dayton, Ohio, three youths on their way to school observed a spherical object moving slowly away in the sky. The object was reported as moving slowly away and lasted about 10 minutes. A balloon released in Sulphur Grove at 6:40 a.m. with winds at 25 miles per hour was noted. Ground and air radar observations occurred between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m., with no radar contact in the area. The object possessed characteristics of a balloon, and an earlier balloon from Sulphur Grove may have initiated the sighting. The Air Force evaluated the object as a balloon.
