Summary

On April 4, 1950, at 9:50 p.m., the Provost Marshal's office in Delano, California received a report of a flying saucer sighting 37 miles north of Bakersfield. A 17-year-old boy and his mother first observed the object at 9 p.m. from 200 feet away. The circular object measured approximately 25 feet in diameter. It appeared to dart back and forth and was whirling or rotating. The object flew in an orbit and reversed direction several times. Witnesses also included Mr. and Mrs. [name redacted]. The sighting lasted until 10:50 p.m. The object was seen on the south side of town. Weather conditions at the time showed thin scattered overcast, 15-mile visibility, temperature 66 degrees, dew point 44 degrees, and northwest wind at 12 knots.
