Summary
On April 19, 1952, at 10:50 a.m. local time, radar operators at an air traffic control station near Benton, Pennsylvania, detected three unidentified objects on radar. The targets appeared as a normal flight of three aircraft in formation showing Mark X IFF (identification friend or foe). The objects moved at an average speed of 400 knots and flew at 12,000 feet altitude. The radar track showed three solid vertical lines on the radar scope. The objects remained on radar for 28 minutes before disappearing. A cold front was passing over the station at the time. The Air Force station considered the aircraft friendly and took no scramble action. The evaluation concluded: Unknown.
