Summary

On June 1, 1954, at about 9:00 p.m. local time, about 400 miles south of Minneapolis, Minnesota, military crews reported one object. An object with what appeared to be running lights seemed to follow an Air Force B-47, aircraft 6597, on an instrument flight plan. The object's estimated altitude varied from about 24,000 to 44,000 feet. A second B-47 following on the same flight was asked to turn off its lights, but the object was still visible to the first aircraft. The first crew watched the object continuously for about 400 miles. Air Defense Command radar sites near Minneapolis could not confirm the object. The Air Force conclusion was unidentified.
