Summary

On September 29, 1957, an observer in Piqua, Ohio reported seeing an object high in the sky that looked and behaved like an aircraft. The sighting lasted about five to seven seconds during daylight hours, around 1205 (12:05 p.m.). The object showed no vapor trail, which made it unusual for something that appeared to be a plane.

The observer watched the object move across the sky but provided limited details about its speed, direction, or how it disappeared from view. In the observer's own assessment, recorded on the questionnaire, the object was probably an aircraft. The observer said the object appeared solid and did not change brightness, shape, or behavior during the brief time it was visible.

The Air Force investigated the sighting and ultimately classified it as unidentified, despite the observer's own conclusion that it was likely a conventional aircraft. The investigation notes indicate that no additional witnesses or corroborating evidence were found. The file does not explain the reasoning behind the Air Force's decision to leave the case unidentified.
