Summary

On a November morning in 1958 near Piqua, Ohio, a witness spotted an unusual object in the sky. The object appeared round and dirty white, roughly the size of a basketball, and seemed to glow as it climbed and disappeared from view. The sighting lasted only a few seconds.

According to the Air Force message summary included in the case file, the object was oval-shaped and black and white in color. The witness saw it between 300 and 400 feet above Piqua, and it appeared to be climbing. The object moved slowly toward the north over the course of three or four seconds. The witness observed it with the naked eye under clear conditions.

The Air Force evaluated the case as unknown, meaning investigators could not identify what the object was. The case file consists of 11 pages and includes a detailed questionnaire completed by the witness, along with an official military message form summarizing the report and distributing it to various Air Force commands and intelligence offices.

This case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, consisting of 11 pages of records on microfilm T1206, Roll 34.
