Summary

On September 26, 1950, a cigar-shaped object with a glowing appearance was reported over Birmingham, Alabama. A civilian witness observed the object during a drive-in movie. The object hovered and then moved straight up, disappearing in about three seconds. The sighting lasted approximately 15 minutes. The witness and his wife both saw the object, which resembled a cigar burning on both ends with a soft glow between. An Aubrey County sheriff's deputy who was a licensed pilot and Air Force Reserve member confirmed seeing the object. The deputy stated the object was not an airplane and that whatever it was scared him. The Air Force investigation concluded the sighting was likely an astronomical object, specifically classified as Astro (Star/Planet).
