Summary

On April 1, 1950, in Shelby, North Carolina, civilians reported sighting an unidentified object. According to a newspaper report from the Raleigh News and Observer dated April 11, 1950, Paul Limerick, commander of Shelby's Veterans Foreign Wars post, reported that he, an employee of an auto parts firm named Nick Mullick, and three children watched an object for at least two minutes. Limerick described it as aluminum-colored but not shaped like an airplane. The object apparently moved in a round, early course without making noise or giving out smoke or flames. It wobbled along its course for two minutes and then shot straight upward before disappearing. The Air Force evaluation was unidentified.
