Summary
On August 7, 1950, a flying disc was reported sighted over Riverdale, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. A witness heard a sound like an airplane and then spotted a flat circular object passing over his house. The witness stated the object was too round to be an airplane and moving too fast to be a balloon. Headquarters Fifth Army submitted this report on August 10, 1950, based on a Chicago Herald-American newspaper article from August 7. The Air Force indicated no further investigation was contemplated.
