Summary

On August 19, 1959, six people in Shelton, Connecticut reported sighting an unusual object in the evening sky. The object had the brightness and color of a first magnitude star and wobbled or spiraled at all times. After it passed overhead, the color turned to bright orange-red. The object was observed moving rapidly in a north-eastern direction for about one minute before vanishing into the horizon. Witnesses described its brightness and color as resembling a star and orange. The Air Force determined there was insufficient information to evaluate the sighting, as the original witness questionnaire lacked adequate detail for analysis.
