Summary

On December 12, 1960, near Waynesville, Ohio, a civilian reported seeing a moving light in the sky around 1 p.m. local time. The object appeared to move from east to south to west to nearly overhead. After emitting a bright glow, the light disappeared. The witness thought the light resembled an aircraft landing light but felt the distance to any air facility was too great for this to be true. Captain George G. Van John, a USAF staff duty officer, investigated the report and suspected it was an aircraft landing light. He indicated the observer might be contacted for more information. The Air Force evaluation was listed as unknown.

11. COMMENTS:
The description and course of this object tend to indicate that the object was probably an a/c. The fact that many a/c with test configurations fly from WPAFB tends to support this possibility.
