Summary

On August 10, 1958, a twelve-year-old boy in Collinsville, Illinois reported seeing a flying object from his bedroom window at approximately 9:50 p.m. The object appeared about the size of a smaller plane and made no sound. It was greenish-white with purple lights, possibly from windows. The boy observed it traveling faster than any jet, descending from a very high altitude before making a 90-degree turn and flying north. The sighting lasted about 2 seconds. The Air Force evaluated the report as insufficient data for evaluation, noting the object's color and movement characteristics but unable to form a valid conclusion about the sighting's nature.
