Summary

On August 28 and 29, 1961, in Redondo Beach, California, a 14-year-old civilian observed a bright and shiny unidentified flying object. The object moved south by southwest at an estimated 45 degrees and was visible through a telescope. Two sightings occurred: the first at 8:20 p.m. to 8:27 p.m., and the second at 8:28 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The observation lasted 7 minutes total. Weather conditions were clear with no sound reported. Captain W. G. Bass of the U.S. Air Force witnessed the sighting in Redondo Beach. The Air Force evaluation was listed as unknown due to insufficient information received to evaluate the case.
