Summary

On June 5, 1955, near Santa Margareta, California, a civilian witness reported observing one round, white object about the size of a head or pin held at arm's length. The object remained stationary and was observed in daylight. The sighting lasted the entire time it was in sight. Two reports arrived from approximately the same location four miles apart, though no definite time was given for the one from Camp San Luis Obispo. Both sightings occurred at almost the same time. The Air Force noted that many balloons are released in Southern California and concluded that both sightings could possibly be explained as balloons.
