Summary

On August 1955 in Platte County, Missouri, a civilian witness reported seeing a strange light over more than two hours after dark. The light moved up and down like a rotating aircraft, moved forward and backward, and seemed stationary at times before moving with tremendous bursts of speed. It had a fluorescent blue color with lights on its edge that appeared to be windows flying off. The object then turned reddish and glowed with a high-pitched hum the witness could feel. The Air Force concluded the sighting was likely overactive imagination, possibly caused by viewing Venus and Jupiter below the horizon at that time.
