Summary

On July 1, 1961, in Oakland, California, a civilian observer reported seeing a bright, silvery object flying overhead on a south-to-north course at approximately 8:13 p.m. The object appeared to fly at about 200 miles per hour at an altitude between 7,000 and 10,000 feet. The witness described it as roughly L-shaped with no visible wings, no exhaust gases, no moisture trails, and no audible sound. A second witness reported a similar observation on July 27, 1961, at approximately 8:15 p.m., describing an unusual object about the size of a passenger plane but larger and higher, traveling from south to north.
