On November 3, 1957, at 1:30 p.m., a round object was sighted in Long Beach, New York. The object appeared as bright as the head of a pin when dim, then changed brightness and emitted light rays. It was white and stationary in the sky. The sighting lasted 2 to 5 minutes and was observed by 15 students at Long Beach High School using the naked eye. Fighters scrambled in response. The Air Force concluded that Venus and search lights were the only possible explanation for the sighting.
