Summary

On October 22, 1955, a civilian in Battle Creek, Michigan reported seeing an object described as the large end of a pencil held at arm's length. The object appeared in the south at an altitude of 45 degrees and remained stationary for 3 minutes before gradually fading out. One object was reported. The Air Force noted that the observer may have seen the exhaust of a jet aircraft, and the color and gradual fade-out would support this hypothesis.
