Summary

On a November evening in 1961, a civilian observer in Canton, Ohio reported seeing a disc-shaped object hovering low overhead for three to five minutes. The object was silent except for a whirring sound. According to the witness, the object produced rays of light, and the observer reported feeling the effects of these rays during the sighting.

The object remained stationary, positioned between 100 and 200 feet above the ground. The witness described it as disc-shaped and noted the presence of the whirring sound throughout the observation. The Air Force questionnaire indicates the observer was certain about the length of time the object remained in view.

When Air Force investigators reviewed the case, they noted in their file that the sighting might represent a possible hallucination by the observer. The official evaluation form lists the case as unidentified, though the comments section raises the possibility of a psychological explanation rather than an unknown aerial phenomenon.

The file does not appear to contain detailed investigative notes, witness interviews, or follow-up analysis beyond the initial report form and the evaluator's brief notation. The full case file, as held by the National Archives, spans 11 pages.
