Summary

On May 7, 1957, in Canton, Ohio, a civilian observer reported an oval-shaped object measuring 12 inches long by 8 inches wide at a distance of 5 to 8 miles. The object was very shiny silver in color and made no sound. It orbited in a northerly direction at an altitude of 2 degrees above the horizon and remained in sight for 10 minutes. The weather was clear with excellent visibility. The witness was 2nd Lieutenant William H. Schreiner, an intelligence officer. The Air Force noted that several small airfields were located north of Akron in the viewing area, and the fact that the object was orbiting led to an aircraft solution.
