Summary

On March 27, 1956, a civilian and Air Force Ground Observer Corps personnel at Canton, Ohio, reported one object at 1230 (about 12:30 p.m.). The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The witness said the object was round and about the size of a baseball at arm's length. It was yellow with a silver tinge. It appeared to stay still and made no sound. The estimated altitude was 2,000 to 5,000 feet. The object was in view about two minutes. The witness said the same object had been seen in December 1954 and August 1955. The sky was clear.

The Air Force concluded the sighting was possibly a balloon. The record said the color, the shape, and the fact that it was seen in daytime pointed to a balloon.
