MKUltra Subproject 126

MKUltra Subproject 126 funded a Disaster Study starting in September 1960. The project cost $4,225.00 and was authorized under a memorandum dated 13 April 1953 from the DCI to the Deputy Director for Plans. The surviving paperwork shows it was designed to study constructive behavior of individuals during periods of extreme stress. A grantee contractor was approved to conduct the work. Funds were obligated to cover the subproject's expenses through Allotment 1525-1009-1902. Financial records from September and October 1960 show invoice payments and expense tracking including salaries ($3,908.26), travel ($160.65), equipment ($21.65), and materials and supplies ($134.44). A final invoice was issued on 27 September 1960 for $4,225.00, with notation that additional funds might be obligated for the project.
