MKUltra Subproject 125

MKUltra Subproject 125 funded pharmacological research on the placebo effect from September 1960. The project supported a study examining the interaction between placebo and drug effects in hospital patients. The work cost $5,102.16 total. A redacted researcher at a redacted institution served as contractor. Research was completed and a publication was submitted to a professional journal. The surviving paperwork shows financial records and administrative memos approving funds of $6,500.00 in 1961 for the subproject, with costs charged to account 2125-1392-3932. The project operated under authority granted in a memorandum dated 13 April 1953 from the DCI to the DD/A.
