Summary
MKUltra Subproject 53 was a research project funded by the CIA between 1960 and 1961. The surviving paperwork shows two payments totaling $2,535.58. In July 1960, a cashier's check for $1,950.60 was issued to a redacted recipient. In May 1961, another check for $584.98 was authorized for payment. An invoice from May 1961 lists professional services and expenses from July 15, 1960 to April 11, 1961, including consultation fees, manuscript review, protocol review, and travel expenses. The work involved consultation with a technical writer, review of materials and references, telephone consultations, and a trip in December 1960. A certification states the work was performed for Subproject 53 of Project MKULTRA in accordance with a memorandum dated April 13, 1953.
