· 147 pages
Summary
This file documents MKUltra Subproject 116, which ran from June 15, 1960 to July 1, 1962 with a budget of $25,000.00. The subproject provided consultative services and a facility for research into special chemicals of LSD interest. It funded both covert procurement of chemicals unavailable through normal channels and a practical demonstration study. A laboratory process was designed to manufacture 2 kilos of Sodium Gamma Hydroxybutyrate. The surviving paperwork shows invoices and receipts for chemical preparation and production work, including pilot plant operations and semi-plant process development. Specific invoices from 1964 document payments for preparation of pilot plant and semi-plant process work yielding 5 kilos of Product A, and laboratory process work producing 2 kilos of Sodium Gamma Hydroxybutyrate, with redacted vendor and researcher names.
