1959 to 1963 · 4 documents · 60 pages
Summary
This file documents MKUltra Subproject 111, which studied motivation levels related to personality characteristics. Funding began July 14, 1961, for a three-year project. The contractor is redacted. The second year budget was $13,000 (previous year was $14,000). The project continued on schedule. The surviving paperwork shows financial records from June 1, 1960 through May 31, 1962, with total received funds of $27,360.00. Expenses totaled $26,278.00, leaving a balance of $82.00. Categories included salaries ($14,145.60), wages ($9,805.60), maintenance ($1,024.80), and overhead ($1,302.00). A progress report from June 1, 1961 to May 31, 1962 describes completed experiments on reminiscence as a measure of drive using high-drive and low-drive subjects. Results showed low-drive groups maintained low reminiscence scores regardless of rest period length, while high-drive groups showed increased reminiscence scores following longer rest periods, contradicting some psychological predictions.
