MKUltra Subproject 70

This file documents MKUltra Subproject 70, which funded research on sleep and unconsciousness from October 1960 to November 1961. The surviving paperwork shows financial and administrative records including invoices, ledgers, and certification memos. The subproject received a grant of $39,390.50. Costs included salaries of $1,580.25, payroll taxes and insurance of $61.77, and laboratory supplies and expenses of $408.47. The subproject incurred direct costs of $2,515.34 and $27,572.16 transferred from other subprojects, with a total of $30,390.50. A Chief Scientist at TSD (Technical Services Division) certified that satisfactory services were received and funds were expended as authorized. The file shows the research was part of a larger MKUltra audit covering the period 1 August 1960 through 31 January 1963.
