MKUltra Subproject 32 funded a proposal to collect medicinal plants and study their active principles. The surviving paperwork shows financial and administrative records from 1953 to 1955. The subproject budgeted $30,000 for one year, allocated as follows: $8,500 for a senior worker's salary, $5,500 for an assistant's salary, $14,000 for overhead at 100 percent of salaries, and $2,000 for supplies and miscellaneous costs. By November 1955, the subproject had received total receipts of $60,000 across multiple periods (September 1953 through April 1955). Disbursements included salaries, overhead, materials, and travel totaling $50,025.32, leaving a balance of $9,974.69. The file includes a memo dated 25 November 1955 directing the return of unexpended funds and closure of the subproject.
