MKUltra Subproject 55 funded pharmacological research at a university from 1956. The CIA provided $2,750.00 for a one-year project studying the relationship between chemical structure and biological activity of isoquinoline derivatives and heterocyclic compounds. The grant covered Dr. [redacted]'s salary ($1,200.00), consultation ($100.00), equipment including a constant-temperature water bath and magnetic stirring apparatus, and animal supplies. The surviving paperwork shows financial ledgers from 1956, invoices, receipt documents, and a February 1956 memorandum detailing project scope and terms. The project was charged to Allotment 6-2302-10-001. The file was approved by TSS/Chemical Division and a Research Director on 23 February 1956.
