Summary
This file is a Special Fund Statement for Subproject 30 of Project MKULTRA, covering the period 17 May to 1 September 1955. It is a numbered ledger of small cash purchases, with the cost of each item and a running cash-on-hand balance. The starting balance is about $411.40 and the fund is drawn down through the summer.
The purchases read as field and surveillance supplies rather than lab chemistry. Listed items include a valve plug, a primer, cigarettes for "Development Security," a suitcase for sampling, foam rubber samplers, bottle stoppers for biological experiments, nasal filter pads, sterile swabs, prescription and ointment boxes, a post office box rental for one year of security, and bug dusters and dust dusters bought with money orders.
A second page continues the entries through late August 1955. It records training for dog guard work, repeated purchases of ice in 275 pound lots, a copy of the book "The Complete Shepherd," General Electric bulbs, payment for a cabin rental reservation for 16-19 November 1955, a duster disseminator, a New York Times subscription for information, shotgun shells for a dissemination study, nasal filters for sampling, and nylon leader material for security. Sidney Gottlieb, Chief of TSS/Chemical Division, signs the statement, certifying he examined and approved the purchases, dated 14 September 1955.
A third page exists but the scan is truncated and unreadable beyond the "Page 3" header.
