Summary
On October 19, 1955, at night near Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, witnesses reported an object. The observers were a civilian control tower operator at an air station and a civilian doctor in the city. The sighting lasted about one hour and 15 minutes.
The witnesses could not tell the object's shape but said it had flashing red, green, and orange lights, each about the size of a matchhead. The red and green lights would flash, then the red light would be replaced by a flashing orange light. The object moved fast in a northerly direction and seemed to disappear over the horizon. It was seen at about 320 degrees from the airfield tower. Binoculars were used.
A jet was sent up to investigate but got a negative identification. The Air Force concluded the sighting was the star Arcturus, which was at about 310 to 320 degrees azimuth.
