Project Blue Book Case File
Miami, Fla, May 1955May 1955
Summary
# Summary
On a date years before the report was filed, a Miami resident witnessed thirteen unidentified objects in the night sky. The sighting began when the main object moved from the direction of the moon to a position about 300 feet above the observer. This primary object had a dome shape and remained stationary for thirteen minutes. Twelve smaller objects moved so rapidly that the observer could not make out details of their appearance or motion.
The report was submitted to the Air Force sometime after the original sighting occurred, though the case file notes the exact timing of the initial observation is unknown. The report was marked unreliable by investigators, primarily because of the significant delay between when the sighting took place and when it was formally documented.
The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably a balloon, though the file does not explain the reasoning behind this assessment or address how a balloon would account for the thirteen separate objects or the observed motions.
The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, comprising nine pages of documents.
