Summary
MKUltra Subproject 33 was established in 1954 to correct a $400 calculation error on Subproject 27. The surviving paperwork shows that the overall project included $42,460.00 for work at an unidentified location, $30,200.00 for another location, and a service charge totaling $2,505.40, bringing the total investigation cost to $75,165.40. One invoice for $400.00 for services was submitted and approved by August 1954. The file contains financial and administrative records including memoranda, receipts, and invoations signed by Sidney Gottlieb, Chief of the Chemical Division at the Technical Services Staff (TSS). The subproject was charged to Allotment 5-2502-10-001 under Project MKULTRA authority granted in April 1953.
