Summary

On August 7, 1952, at 1:19 p.m. EDT, a civilian woman in Washington D.C. reported seeing an object about the size of the moon. The object appeared as an almost perfect circle and moved a short distance toward the observer, then made circles and seemed to increase in size before disappearing into clouds. The sighting occurred in the northwest section of Washington from 5239 Third Street N.W. The observer viewed the object from the ground but could not determine its speed or altitude. Weather conditions included a ceiling of 3500 feet scattered, 25,000 feet overcast, visibility of five miles with haze, surface winds from the east at three knots, and winds aloft at 5000 feet from 38 degrees at four knots, with winds at 10,000 feet from 90 degrees at nine knots. No official Air Force evaluation is stated in the documents.
