Summary

On November 16, 1956, a civilian and military observer in Newport, Oregon reported sighting one round red object about the size of a pillow held at arm's length. The object was first seen with a tail at 9:42 a.m., then reflected in a nearby lake. It moved straight up 90 degrees to the northwest and slowly faded in the sky after being visible for one hour. The sighting was ground-visual. An ATIC form was sent on November 19, 1956 to gather more information. No evaluation appears in the provided pages.

10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING
One round red object the size of a pillow at arm's length. Object had a tail first seen // 19 Nov 56. Results will be on monthly UFOB Summary. Mars in a reflection in the lake. Object moved straight up then 90 dgr to the Northwest. Object slowly faded in the sky after having been seen visually for one hour.
