Summary

On September 23, 1958, at Kindley Air Force Base, Bermuda, an airman on control tower duty reported sighting a reddish light within 10 miles of the airport at an altitude of approximately 4,000 feet. The object appeared to be traveling at great speed and was visible for about one minute. A radar operator on duty also sighted an object that traveled in several directions on the radar scope, moving faster than normal aircraft and fading as if very high or very low. Radar contact was made four times. The object appeared to be small. No sightings were reported to radar departure control, and the U.S. Navy control tower was alerted. Investigation revealed the Navy had no aircraft aloft in the area. The Air Force evaluation was listed as unknown.
