Summary

On January 11, 1955, at 12:01 a.m., a civilian observer near Salona Beach and Mt. Laguna, California, reported seeing two unidentified objects. The first object appeared as a light blue ball that split into two parts. The second object was described as oblong with a tail, about pea-sized, with blue and white light, producing no sound and flying straight. The sighting lasted between 5 and 20 seconds. The observation came from ground-visual means. An Air Force investigation noted the objects' behavior and characteristics. The evaluation concluded the sighting was consistent with a meteor.
