Project Blue Book Case File
Oakland, CaliforniaMarch 1955
Summary
In 1955, in the Oakland Bay area of California, a ground observer on duty reported a round object. It was about the size of a pin head held at arm's length and silver in color. A B-47 type aircraft was in the air at the time, near the location of the sighting.
An air division intelligence officer gave the opinion that the sighting was caused by a reflection from the B-47, which was coming in over the water for a landing approach.
The case is recorded under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
