Summary

On August 9, 1954, an Air Force crew flying over the Atlantic Ocean reported seeing objects in the sky. The sighting was made by military observers aboard a B-47 type aircraft. It was a daylight sighting that lasted about 7 minutes.

The crew saw two groups of objects. One object flew alone, and others flew in close formation. The single object had a shape similar to a B-47 aircraft. The objects were straight ahead of the plane on the same course of 285 degrees. They pulled away from the plane at about 435 knots before vanishing. The plane was at 8,000 feet with unlimited visibility and clear skies.

The report listed the conclusion as probably aircraft. It was filed as part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The crew was interrogated by a base intelligence officer.
