Summary

On January 5, 1957, near Minneapolis, Minnesota, a civilian observer watched a round object through field glasses. The object was solid green with a red flash every few seconds. It first appeared at 20,000 feet and rose to 30,000 feet, moving north and east over Lake Superior. The observer saw the object with binoculars for over one and a half hours. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably caused by a balloon.

One round object, solid green with a flashing red every few seconds. Object was first seen at 20,000 feet (est) and rose up to 30,000 feet (est) moving back and forth. Object moved Northwest then East over Lake Superior and was seen visually & with binoculars for over 1.5 hours.
