Summary

On August 12, 1962, at about 2511Z, at night, an observer in Lincoln, Nebraska, reported an object in the sky. The sighting was reported through the Air Force's unidentified flying object record system.

The witness described a round object about the size of a pinhead. It was bright white, then progressed to orange and grew weaker, gradually fading out. The observer said the object had a high frequency flicker, about 500 times per minute.

The record card noted that a movie film flickers at 480 frames per minute, which the eye cannot detect, so the witness probably overestimated the flicker. It also noted the witness probably overestimated the duration of the sighting.
